BIshop nzerebende primary school
Background
Bishop Nzerebende Primary School was founded by Rt. Rev. Bishop Nzerebende and his family members in 2008 when construction work commenced under an umbrella organization ‘Fighting Poverty with Hands Initiative-Uganda (FIPHAI-Uganda)’. The school officially opened gates for staff recruitment and admission of learners on January 31, 2011 with classes from nursery to primary five. The initial classes subsequently progressed and the first batch of primary seven candidates graduated in 2013, followed by a second one in 2014; both achieving over 90% success in Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE). The school is registered with the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology under the government of Uganda.

Objectives
- To provide quality but affordable education to children in slums and rural areas of Rwenzori region
- To make education accessible to all children of school going age with deliberate support for Orphans and other Vulnerable Children
- To provide a service that focuses on education and health needs of service seekers, thus making it a training center for both children and their parents.
- To establish a model school in terms of performance, infrastructure, management systems and quality of graduates.
- To create employment
- To fight ignorance, disease and poverty.
Location: The school is located at Kikonzo zone, Railway ward-Central Division-Kasese Municipality in Kasese District Western Uganda.
School Enrolment
Our focus is more on Orphans and other Vulnerable Children (OVCs) who include children from slums around Kasese Municipality dominated by war displaced families; children from mountainous and hard to reach areas; children with disabilities; neglected children; children of persons living with HIV/AIDS and children from extremely poor families.
The school currently has a population of 724 children expected to increase at the beginning of next year. Many of the children especially in boarding section come from outside Kasese District; as far as Bundibugyo, Ntoroko, Kabarole and Kamwenge Districts in Western Uganda.
School Services and Facilities
We focus not only on the academics but also on health, social and spiritual upbringing of our learners through effective teaching, good nutrition, basic medical care, games and sports, proper sanitation and hygiene, chapel services and appropriate infrastructure.
Games and Sports
Pupils are engaged in various co-curricular activities such as volleyball, netball, athletics, music, dance and drama to develop their talents and physical fitness.
School based healthcare
Our school clinic offers first aid and basic medical treatment for fever, simple fractures, wound dressing, diarrhoea, headaches and general health education. We also supply Insecticide treated bed nets to children and their parents in order to control malaria infections in their households.
Our school nurse also supervises cleanness around the entire school and together with the matron and patron ensure good personal hygiene among boys and girls residing at the school premises.
The school garden serves as a source of supplementary food for the children and staff diet. It also helps children to acquire practical skills in vegetable farming.
Staffing
The school has a total of 30 teaching and non-teaching staff. The head teacher is Okalebo Charles Peter.
Spiritual life
The school has a chaplain Rev. Noah Kato who conducts school chapel service every Wednesday. Children in the boarding section hold morning and evening fellowship daily before and after classes respectively. A confirmation service is shown below.
